It’s been a while, but the thanks and praise are ever on my heart. Here are a few things I have been grateful for as of late.
The Career Pivot

I recently made the thrilling decision to (finally!) step back from tech and pursue my interest in nonprofit organizational closure. With the support of friends and colleagues, I launched The Wind Down, a project to help design, promote, and facilitate better endings to projects and organizations in the civil society sector.
As part of this work, I am honored to have been given the opportunity to take over as facilitator of the Stewarding Loss Community of Practice, which is known as Practices of Composting and Hospicing. You can read more about what I have been working on here.
Maame by Jessica George

I have been drowning in excellent books these days — both fiction and nonfiction. One of the best I’ve read so far this year is Maame, by British Ghanaian writer Jessica George. It is a humorous yet cringey, coming-of-age story of a young woman finding her way in the world in the midst of betrayal and tragedy. I found it really lovingly written and the sort of thing I’d gift to any young woman in my life.
I hope it gets made into a movie. Maybe my beloved Micaela Coel could direct it? Hmmm……
Problemista
I went to the movies to the other day and realized I’d gotten my times wrong so I ended up going to see this because it was playing next. I am glad I gave it a go! It is not perfect, but it is weird and funny in a very Michel Gondry/Spike Jonze-twee kind of way, and I don’t think I will ever quite shake how teeth-grinding and horrid Tilda Swinton’s character was. I highly recommend!
Phase Fatale at Merge
Dancing is one of my greatest joys in live and I am fortunate enough to be in community with people who throw really fantastic techno parties. Earlier this month I was super grateful to get to shake it all out during a killer set by Berlin-based DJ Phase Fatale. It was exceedingly transformative and a great entree to springtime in NYC!
